Backup

It is important to regularly backup to your database to avoid data loss in case of a system crash or other unwanted events.

Backup the database using the built-in function

You can do this from iDeal CRM:

1. Go to the Settings pane
2. Choose the Backup option
3. Choose a file name and destination

Manual backup the whole iDeal CRM solution

Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7

• Quit iDeal CRM. Never make a backup while iDeal CRM is open or else you are likely to create a corrupted backup.
• Open My Computer, and navigate to your install location. (usually C:\Program Files\iDeal CRM EN x.x.x (where x.x.x is the current version).
• You can see many files there. Look for database.USR.
• Right click on the file, and choose Copy from the popup menu.
• Navigate to an other location where you wish to save the file (for example on your main drive create a folder called CRM backup, and create a new folder in it based on the current date (eg: Backup 091020). If you are in that folder, right click, and choose paste. database.USR will appear in some seconds.
• (Optional). You can also ZIP this file. Right click on it, and choose Send - archive.

Mac OS X

• Quit iDeal CRM. Never make a backup while iDeal CRM is open or else you are likely to create a corrupted backup.
• Open Finder, and navigate to your install location. (usually Applications/iDeal CRM EN x.x.x (where x.x.x is the current version).
• You can see many files there. Look for database.USR.
• Right click on the USR file, and choose Copy from the popup menu.
• Navigate to an other location where you wish to save the file (for example on your main drive create a folder called CRM backup, and create a new folder in it based on the current date (eg: Backup 091020). If you are in that folder, right click, and choose paste. database.USR will appear in some seconds.
• (Optional). You can also ZIP this file. Right click on it, and choose Compress.

Restoring a backup

• Quit iDeal CRM. Never restore a backup while iDeal CRM is open!
• Navigate to your backup directory, and locate for the backup file you created using the backup steps.
• If you archived it, please unarchive it first
• Right click on the file, choose copy.
• Navigate to your iDeal CRM install location, and open that folder.
• Right click, and press paste.
• Overwrite the existing file.
